PERSONALIZED VIRTUAL Instruction
Do you or your student need support with executive functioning skills, academics, test prep, or college applications? You’ve come to the right place! About Laura
I am an experienced and passionate educator with over a decade of expertise as a public school classroom teacher and as a private tutor. Throughout my career, I have worked in both special education and general education settings, with students from kindergarten through twelfth grade (and even with adults, too!)
I hold teaching certifications in both California and Massachusetts and have a wealth of experience in designing impactful instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
Educational equity is a major priority of mine, and I am deeply passionate about making sure that all students have access to high-quality educational experiences that meet their individual needs.
I conduct my tutoring sessions virtually to accommodate students with busy schedules, so you can attend from wherever you have access to the Internet!
My Services
Executive function and self-regulation skills are the mental processes that enable us to plan, focus attention, remember, and juggle multiple tasks. I help students organize and prioritize their tasks and assignments, set goals and track progress toward them, and develop systems that build ownership and independence.
I support students who need extra help with grade-level content, and I also plan and design personalized instruction for students with learning gaps who need targeted remediation to build foundational academic skills.
I tutor all sections of the ACT and SAT exams (including the new digital SAT), as well as the ISEE, HSPT, and other private school entrance exams.
I support students in planning, writing, and editing college essays, including supplemental essays and personal statements.
As a former public school special education teacher and case manager for students in grades K-12, I can offer a second set of eyes for your student’s IEP, or recommendations for accommodations, goals, or services.

My Educational Philosophy
Learning Is Not One-Size-Fits-All
Every student is capable of learning and making progress, but not every student learns in the same way. All brains are built differently! This is a great thing, but it can make it really challenging to learn in environments that expect students to conform to a mold that may not suit them.
I’m a big proponent of “students do well if they can” – I’ve seen students struggle in one setting, and then really thrive in another, with the main difference being that when students are understood and supported, they’re able to learn to their highest potential.
I work with each student to help them identify their own strengths and areas of growth, and come up with a plan that best suits their individual learning needs. Then, if something doesn’t work, we’ll adjust and try something else!
